Sustamed is a complex steroid drug. The active substance has esters of Testosterone, from short Propionate to prolonged Decanoate, providing a relatively effect throughout a duration of activity - up to 2-3 full weeks. Athletes use this drug primarily to increase muscle mass and strength.
The first similar preparation (a mixture of Testosterone esters) was developed by the company Organon as a medicament to provide the most uniform and prolonged effect of Testosterone when used on hormone replacement therapy, and not only.
